Cavaliers vs. Knicks Predictions, Player Props, Picks & Odds for 4/18

Snip20230415_183

Things truly got off to a great start on Saturday in game 1 as the Knicks negated Cleveland’s home court advantage with a four-point victory by a score of 101-97. Julius Randle did in fact make his return to action and you would have never known there were any issues with his ankle. Donovan Mitchell did everything he could in an effort to push Cleveland towards victory, but ultimately Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart were too much for the Cavaliers.

There is a lot to think about and ponder before these two teams reconvene on Tuesday, so what can we expect from a betting perspective? Let’s jump into our Cavaliers vs. Knicks predictions with the odds provided by Bet365 Sportsbook.

Cavaliers vs. Knicks Predictions for Game 2 of the NBA Playoffs on 4/18

The good feelings began for the Knicks when it was determined that Julius Randle was going to be active for Saturday’s game after missing the last two weeks with an ankle injury. Randle came out of the gates surging showing no rust as he ultimately finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds. We did see those positive vibes take a hit when Jalen Brunson was forced to the bench with early foul trouble, but he had a strong third quarter and second half.

While Donovan Mitchell tried to single handedly do everything he could to deliver a victory, finishing with 38 points and eight assists while Jarrett Allen finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds, the Knicks were ultimately too strong. Josh Hart played a large role off the bench and his 17 points and 10 rebounds were a large factor in New York’s victory. With a four-point margin of victory anything can happen, but it is hard not to expect a bounce back from the Cavaliers.

This series is going to be a tough battle for both teams and while things will likely bounce back and forth regularly, the main thought process here is that the games are going to be close. With this being the case, our experts love the Knicks’ chances and are backing New York +4.5 (-110 at Bet365 Sportsbook).

Cavaliers vs. Knicks Player Props & Picks Featuring Julius Randle, Jalen Brunson & Donovan Mitchell

While there is plenty of credit to go around for the Knicks on Saturday, the return of Randle is a large factor. After seeing the forward finish with 19 points and 10 rebounds, we know he will continue to be a strong factor after averaging 25.1 points and 10 rebounds per game in the regular season. The chances for another double-double are pretty strong here and anything over 35 for combined points + rebounds total is going to be something to target.

After spending the majority of the first half on the bench Saturday, Brunson more than made up for that in the second half and he still finished with 27 points in 29 minutes. Our concern here is that an already inflated market for Brunson’s total points will climb even more for game 2 and while it is hard to ignore the upside, it is difficult to take him at anything more than 25 points on the over.

The Knicks won in spite of Donovan Mitchell’s fourth quarter and everything that the talented guard did. While stopping him was clearly a focus, Mitchell also simply put Cleveland on his back and has the ability to take over games. After finishing with 38 points on Saturday, it is clear that Mitchell will be a true offensive factor and we feel comfortable hammering the over on 30 points and below.
